3 Day Mikumi National Park and Maasai Village Tour from Zanzibar

If you’re vacationing on the island of Zanzibar and want to experience a safari in a prime African wilderness area, this 3-day itinerary is perfect for you. You’ll get a chance to taste African savannah wildlife, which is a nature escape from the beachy Zanzibar archipelago. Mikumi National Park is a hidden gem among Tanzanian national parks, and the density and diversity of wildlife there are worth a visit. The tour includes managed transfers to and from your lodge in Zanzibar.

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

Your adventure will start with an early morning pick-up from your lodge, arranged by Tanzania Off-road Trips. You will cross the Indian Ocean by boat in the morning and arrive at the port of Dar es Salaam at 7:00 a.m. There, you will meet your guide, and the road trip from Dar es Salaam port to Mikumi National Park via Morogoro town will take around 5-6 hours, including a break for a hot lunch in Morogoro town.

Upon arrival in Mikumi at around 2:00 to 3:00p.m., you will heading to a Maasai Boma (traditional Maasai nomads' village) for a chat with the famous pastoralists. The activity includes traditional entertainment such as singing and dancing, and an elder will narrate the nomads' lifestyle. After the experience in the nomads' village you will retreat to Double G campsite for an overnight stay.

Day 2:Full-day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

An early breakfast will be served at the lodge, and then the game drive will begin. Mikumi National Park is also referred to as a hidden gem of Tanzania due to its diverse African savannah wildlife richness. The exploration of the park will be characterized by two peaks: morning and evening game drives, due to high animal visibility and light balance for better photographs. There will be a midday break for a picnic lunch at an established site in the park. You will return to the lodge in the evening for an overnight stay at Double G campsite.

Day 3:Mikumi national park and Sailing Back to Dar es salaam then to Zanzibar

An early breakfast will be served at Double G campsite before , the safari will start towards Dar es Salaam port, where you will take the evening boat, departing at 4:00 p.m. and sail back to your lodge in Zanzibar. The taxi driver will pick you up from the port of Zanzibar and drive you back to your lodge.
